On Tuesday (September 11), our contact Miguel asked me if I was comfortable driving in a foreign country.  Assuming he meant driving our team around, I said sure!  That afternoon, Miguel pulled up to our house in a Nissan Frontier.   In the cab and bed of the truck was 11 local Dominican church planters.  Miguel tossed me the keys and said Francisco (one of the locals) would give me directions to the village we would be visiting called Batey Chaquita.  Please get the picture, me in the cab of a truck with 6 spanish speaking locals.  I had no clue where I was going or how to get there and nobody in the truck spoke english.  Looking out the rear view mirror, the back of the truck was loaded with people hanging on to every square inch of available space.  To say I was a little nervous is an understatement.

Luckily, a finger point in Spanish translates perfectly to English and God gave me the opportunity to drive our team into the most beautiful mountains on Earth to go spread the Gospel.  I had a great time with all the locals singing praise music in spanish to the top of their lungs in the cab the whole time.

On the ride home, the skies opened up with a torrential downpour and Hannah and the rest of our team rode home in the back of the truck under a tarp.  I felt like I was smuggling people back into town!! It was absolutely hilarious.  What we are quickly finding is that every day is an adventure on the World Race.

Now I am comfortable with the drive and will never again think that 16 is too many people for a small truck.  (On Sunday, we went to church in a village called Cavito with 29 people in the same truck…awesomeness!!)

We love you!
