There is a worship chorus that we
sometimes sing that says:

“What does it sound like
when you sing heaven’s song? What does it feel like when heaven comes
down? What does it look like when God is all around?”

Have you ever experienced this almost
tangible hunger pain in your heart? This worry or even fear about
“What is going to happen to me in my life? Why am I here?” It is
not even perfectly definable by these questions. It is really just
this “something” in there that there is no explanation for and if
you see, hear, or feel “It” you know it. Even Christians
experience this. I know, because I have. There is an answer to this.
There is something in you that reacts to “It” when you find it,
even if you don’t know where “It” is coming from.

Experiencing the presence of the Holy
Spirit of God is an incredibly tangible thing. It brings healing
physically as well as within hearts. It is powerful and can be felt.
Jesus instructed the disciples to wait until it fell upon them and
not do anything else until it did. When it did, it was a tangible
experience. Fire over their heads, a rushing wind, speaking in
languages fluently that they had never heard before… It even says
that the Spirit was so present with some of the Apostles that just
their shadow passing over someone as they walked by brought physical
healing. These are real things that have happened. The Holy Spirit
affects things when He is present.

A couple weeks ago at the 8 month
debrief with S squad in Nairobi we experienced the tangible presents
of the Holy Spirit. This is why I love debriefs on the World Race and
why I think they are so important. The way God shows up when we stop
our lives for just a moment to search ourselves for anything that may
need to be given over to Him and changed is truly awesome. When we
put first the desire to hold nothing back from the Lord He showers us
with His goodness. We did not have a miraculous healing or fire
falling out of heaven at that time, but the presence of God was so
thick during our worshiping Him that it was felt tangibly, and not
only by us.

As we were singing in worship and
resting in the presence of God, a woman passing by on the street
outside where we were heard what “It” sounded like and felt what
“It” felt like. Something in here said “That is ‘It’! Go and
see.” She came inside and said “I heard you from the street and
the Spirit of God is here.” She wanted “It” desperately. She
asked if we could come and bring “It” to her church. She said
that she could arrange a bus to come and bring us all there.
Arranging a bus is not easy in Africa but that is how sure she was
that she was in the presence of “It” and she wanted to keep “It”
with her. The “It” we are looking for is the Holy Spirit of God
and try as we might, we never find “It” anywhere else.

The truth is that she did not need us
to bring “It” to her church. The Holy Spirit is ready to come to
anyone who asks Him. “Seek me and you will find me. Knock on my door
and I will open it.” But this requires an invitation on our part.
We have to put ourselves away and ask the Spirit of God to come into
us. “I stand at the door and knock and anyone who opens the door to
me, I will come in and be with him.” The last line in that chorus
that I mentioned is: “Let it Come”

To that I invite you to say with me yes
and amen. Let “It” come!
