Well here I am with only a few
short days of ministry left on the World Race. Vietnam was absolutely amazing. I
love that country. Due to the political climate and the government’s treatment
of religion there, I cannot say too much about what we did besides that
we were able to meet and talk with people in coffee shops, visit the elderly
and a leper colony, and we saw people come to know Christ and experience His
hope and love for the first time. I can’t wait to tell more of the stories when
it is possible for me to do so through avenues other than the web that will not
endanger the people who are there working to build the Kingdom. I can tell you
that the Lord is working in Vietnam
and that there is a great harvest being tended in that country.
For the month of June we have been
here in Kampong Cham, Cambodia
teaching at an English
Education Center
with some wonderful Christian missionaries as a means to build relationships
and share the Love of Christ with the people here who come to learn our language.
It is different from anything we have done so far on the race and it has been
awesome. Man I love Asia!
Here in the eleventh month, on the
last stretch it has been tough to keep up the energy and balance all the
emotions and thoughts of everything that has happened this year with going home
and also trying to stay plugged into the ministry. Being so close to the end is
in short, strange. I think it is probably a tendency for anyone at this point
to be pretty over ministry for a time and just be ready to go home. But the
Lord is faithful and the prayers of my supporters have been helping. It is true
that when we trust and wait upon the Lord we can “renew our strength, run and
not grow weary, walk and not faint.” I am happy to report that the Lord has
been very present with me through this time and while I am excited about going
home and what is coming up in the future months, I have been really enjoying
the here and now and been giving my all to our time in the awesome country of
Cambodia. This is definitely not on my own strength as I was ready to head back
for my own air conditioned bug free bed, and 24hr drive through at
What-A-Burger weeks ago, but it is on the strength of the Lord and by the power
of the Holy Spirit in me.
As I look back over this past year
it is impossible to put into words, or even think about at one time everything
that I have experienced. Ups and downs, highs and lows, shining moments and
some I would like to forget… God is good. It will take time to process,
understand, and share what He has done for me and how I have changed. It has
been an amazing year to say the least. I can not count the times that I have
just stopped and thought “wow Lord, my life is so cool.” And ya know what
the coolest part is? It’s not because I have gotten to go around the world
cause I’m some special case and that now its ending and I have to go home and
live some “normal” life. This is what we get to look forward to every day when
we are living with Christ. “Ask and I’ll give the nations to you” he says, and
“trust in me and I will give you the desires of your heart.” “I have plans for
you to prosper you and not to harm you.” If I can say one thing I have learned
on this trip it is that these things are true. I have seen with my own eyes
that God is real and He is not a liar. He has done all these things for me and
I am happy and secure in Him because I believe in the hope that the best is yet
to come.
