So what are we up to here in Viile Tecii, Romania?
All Kinds of stuff. This is what I would call a second world area. Its not
quite a completely deprived area like you see in third world countries but it
is somewhat primitive. The people here are not really accepted by the general
population of Romanians. It is awesome though to see their hearts and how they
make the best of what God has given them. There is however a spirit of pent up
frustration that can be very tangibly felt here and it comes out in aggression
at times. Yeah pretty much saw a guy throwing rocks at two other guys and those
guys turning on him and chasing him with a sickle right out in front of our
house. Abi, the man hosting us and John, our contact here, were able to break
it up before anyone was hurt but it was a gut check moment for sure. We have
put a lot of prayer into releasing this community from this stuff. We are
basically just trying to live along side them and show them love how ever we
can. Many of them love us right back in even bigger ways than we bring to them
and that has been really encouraging and humbling. We have been doing things
like chopping wood, building fences and porches, visiting houses and having
bible study times with people, playing with kids… It has been up and down as we
have gone along but the Lord is here standing at the door and knocking and
people here are beginning to let Him come in.
