Well here we are in Bungoma, Kenya and I must say that I am loving it here in Africa. We did house to house evangelism yesterday for the first time in my
life. I did not know what to do or expect but had a strange peace and
confidence in it from the Lord. We went with a translator from the
church and he was great. We would just walk up to houses (mostly one room mud walled structures) and ask if we could come in and fellowship with them. “Behold I stand at the door and knock.” Every one we went to welcomed us right in so we would all pack in and sit down. At the first house we met a nice young lady named Rachel,
and we introduced ourselves to her. Then everyone just kind of
turned to me to speak and so I prayed “Lord help me” and I started with
why we had come from America and that we wanted to share the Love of
Jesus and that they could experience a relationship with Him firsthand.
The translator asked her if she would like to accept Christ and she
said she would. So I led her in a prayer to accept Jesus forgiveness
for her of her sins and to come into her heart and then I prayed a
blessing over her and it was as simple as that. We also prayed with her about wanting to go to college and needing funds. We asked her if she had
a bible and she said she didn’t so we told her we would get one for her
and come and visit her again. We went to two more houses yesterday
afternoon and we shared with several more people and I led two more
ladies, Mary, and Evelyn in a prayer to accept Christ. We also prayed for healing for some ailments they have been suffering and we promised them Bibles and to
visit again. They also said they would come to church on Sunday and
that we would see them there. We have purchased Bibles in Swahili for
them and look forward to meeting them again and tending to the shoots
that have sprouted in their lives from the seeds that we planted. I
don’t mean to sound shallow but I was surprised at how easy it was to
share the gospel here. It is honestly something I have felt a little
intimidated by but I really had nothing to worry about. We are asked to
share and remember that it is not us who speak but the spirit speaking
through us and if they say yes, its yes and if no, its no and we have
nothing to regret or worry about because we have been obedient to
share. I am starting to realize the truth in that “the harvest is
plentiful but the workers are few.” Please keep praying for us that we
may see many more come to Christ and that we can continue to nurture
those who have already through our witness.
