Dear friends and family,
I hope you are doing well! As I approach the end of my senior year of high school and prepare to enter the next chapter of my life, I’ve been growing increasingly excited for what the Lord has in store for the coming year. If you haven’t heard yet, I am going on a nine month mission trip beginning in September. This is an incredible opportunity, and I hope you’ll share in my joy as I tell you a little bit about it.
Over the nine months I’ll be traveling to four different countries. Here’s what ministry will look like in each of these nations:
-
Costa Rica – I will spend my first few months in San Jose, Costa Rica. I will be serving alongside ministry partners who have already been spreading the good news of the gospel and demonstrating the love of Jesus to this city. We may spend time teaching English or dance to local students, or working on community projects in slums which have been devastated by poverty and gang violence.
-
Guatemala – The second three months of my trip will be spent at a missions base near the town of Antigua in Guatemala. Here we will be doing community outreach, perhaps teaching English or playing soccer with local youth. We will work to reach local people whose lives have not been changed by the truth of the gospel.
-
Thailand – My third destination will be Chiang Mai, Thailand. Thailand is a nation which is widely untouched by the gospel. I will be partnering with a network of local ministries to show the love of Christ to the people of Chiang Mai, whether this looks like ministering to tourists, playing with street kids, or teaching English to locals.
-
Swaziland – I will spend my last few months in Swaziland, which is now technically called eSwatini. Our mission base will be in a town called Nsoko. An HIV/AIDS epidemic has orphaned thousands of children in eSwatini. We will be providing the children with food, clean water, education, healthcare, and discipleship.
People all over the world are in desperate need of salvation. The love of Jesus Christ must enter into these individuals’ lives. However, we cannot expect them to grasp the incredible love of Christ, if they have never truly experienced love, on a much smaller scale, from their fellow humans. As I consider the people in the four countries the Lord has set out for me, I know that he wants to use me to demonstrate His love to them.
As the trip approaches, I am praying that the Lord would bless me with a team of supporters like you. I need to fundraise a total of $15,800, which is a daunting sum of money, but I am trusting that the Lord will provide. I would ask you to consider donating to my fundraising effort, and if you are not financially able, then please pray for my team and I as we close in on our launch date in September.
