What would you say to an introvert who is wanting to apply for the World Race? Would you remind them of the 11 months of near non stop community? Would you tell them it’s not as bad as they would imagine? There are so many things one could say or do, but as an Introvert on the race in month six, I might have some good news to future introverts.
Last week, our squad was in Bangkok, Thailand for little get together called LDW. (leadership development weekend) This LDW weekend is a couple days, every couple months for everyone to get together to learn, grow, and just have a chance to be with the entire squad. It really is a good time with good people because of the opportunities you have to recharge and grow with your fellow world racers. At this LDW I actually came to terms with my Myer Briggs results of being an introvert. Not saying I didn’t embrace being an introvert, but I had come to realize that being an introvert on the race was actually, in my opinion, an advantage. A lot of people are extroverts on my squad and I heard a few of them express how much they desired to be left alone. They wanted to escape from being around people all the time. They wanted their own space, time alone or just time to think. It made me realize that in this moment in life, I had the upper hand. Realizing that in a world of constant community, I had the tools and the knowledge to escape in order to get a little R&R. To be honest, I have grown to really like being in community, but having this opportunity to see others realize how important it is to have some free time or some alone time is absolutely priceless for me. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I have had enough experiences of people not wanting to be around or deal with me because I am an introvert. A good example is the last time I tried dating. The gal I was interested in, ended up telling me there was no way a relationship could EVER work out because I was an introvert and she was an extrovert……WHAT? I know, my mind was blown as well, but it made me realize that the phrase “opposites attract” is so true for me. I feel like it’s true for so many others as well because the introverts balance out extroverts. We are all in this together and we need to remember to balance out the force. It it wasn’t for extroverts, introverts would probably stay home all day watching Spongebob; and if it wasn’t for introverts, extroverts would probably be out all the time trying to outdo each other. Im not sure.
What I am trying to say is this: we all compliment each other in different ways and it is beautiful to see how introverts helps extroverts. I have so many tips to help an extrovert get away and have some peace in such a busy world, and they can help me get out of my own way to participate in such a busy world. It’s beautiful to see the body work together.
Don’t worry, one day I will find my extrovert!
Until Next time………

4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
