Welcome to Uganda, the final month of our journey in which we started nearly a year ago. Last month we were located in Rwanda, which will always hold a special place in my heart thanks to the host and his family. Rwanda was beautiful, peaceful, and rather clean compared to a lot of the other countries we have visited. Green, lush, and friendly, where plastic bags are illegal, but for very good reasons and it is noticeable.
Last week we arrived in Uganda after a long, speed bump filled, bus ride. The countryside of Uganda is as beautiful as Rwanda, but in its own unique dusty way. We arrived in the small village of Kassanda. Our ministry this month is going to include school visits, home visits, church services, and helping with government and private medical centers. Being here is unlike anywhere else I’ve been yet, and AIDS/HIV seems to be playing a huge part in this as well as the large amount of orphans.
Our ministry is with a Kassanda children’s aid and they educated us on the fact that 60% of population is infected with AIDS/HIV. It is a very sad truth, which has left many of the children orphans. Many schools have been erected around the area in hopes of helping the children better their future. Our ministry host sponsors many children and are only able to help a small amount of the children in need.
Since we all know there is power in prayer, please pray for Uganda, pray for the children, pray for a stop to AIDS/HIV, and pray for the people helping in this country and for the people who need help in Uganda.
Until Next time……
