Around one year ago I was introduced to a man named Mei Sah. This man is a young pastor in Myanmar who has completely surrendered his heart to God. This man and his family among other followers of Jesus face heavy persecution in an area that lacks resources and a government that restricts church progress quite frequently.
I befriended him on Facebook the day I heard about his story and quickly gained a spiritual connection with him. His love for the Lord is very evident even in his simple, yet hard to understand, Facebook messages (gotta love it). As the days rolled by I soon began to pray about how I could unite with Mei Sah and hear more about his ministry and possibly do ministry alongside him. Mei Sah also would tell me (pretty much everyday haha), “I pray that you will be able to come here soon. I want to do ministry with you. I love your love for the Lord.”
The dream soon became a reality when I signed up for the World Race. I picked this specific route because I knew Bangladesh was a country close to Myanmar and that could potentially lead to a week in Myanmar with Mei Sah and his family! Well, I soon began to realize that traveling from foreign country to foreign was going to be a challenge because you never know if you might need a Visa or vaccinations for that specific country. So my hope of seeing him turned into a doubtful fact that I probably wouldn’t get to.
As I continued to pray, I came to the conclusion that I would just promise Mei Sah I would travel to Myanmar when I got back from the World Race. Well, here’s where the story gets really good so if you stopped reading I am sorry for my not so great storytelling abilities.
I received an email from the World Race. One of my original route countries, Bangladesh, was going to be replaced with another country due to safety reasons. Can anybody guess what country I’ll be going to instead!? MYANMAR!! How good is God? As I read that I literally became speechless because I couldn’t believe that a simple desire to meet a man that, in a lot of ways, I look up to and I don’t even know much about him would possibly be fulfilled sooner than later!
Now, it’s still up in the air if I’ll get to meet him but I have a crazy feeling that God put this in place for a special purpose and I couldn’t be more excited to see what transpires with that.
Such a cool God story, huh? Well, as awesome as I was to hear that I’m also saddened that Bangladesh will not be loved on by my World Race team. God is bigger than we are and He has a special plan but would you join me in praying for the people of Bangladesh as they face heavy terrorism and a very dark cloud of evil in that country. As I share this story I can’t help but to be reminded of Jeremiah 29:11-13,
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
With love,
Tim
