Welcome to Malaysia!

We have arrived safely to our first ministry site after a three day journey.

We left our hotel in Chicago at 11 a.m. and took a 14 and a half hour flight to Hong Kong…

Our flight from Hong Kong arrived in Kuala Lumpur (KL) at 5:10 a.m.

My team was greatly blessed when we reached Kuala Lumpur!

My team, Joyful Feet, along with Team Divinely Appointed had an 8:30 p.m. train to catch and Team Consuming Fire's train was about an hour after ours so we had all day to spend in the city.

Over my time as a college student as well as working with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship on the college campus I have gotten to know quite a few Malaysian international students so I posted on Facebook that I was arriving in KL on Monday and when we arrived at KL Sentral, the main train station of KL, I was greeted by some amazing Malaysian friends who offered to give up their day to show us around the area.

Malaysian FriendsWe spent lunch in Chinatown, explored the market, we went to the KLCC Petronius Twin Towers and the shopping mall, then we finished the evening by going into Little India and having dinner at an Indian restaurant… It was great to have a translator to help us order (Hui Min) as the restaurant servers didn't speak English. Hui Min did a great job ordering for all of us, she asked us for a general idea of what we all wanted and she picked a meal for us! I said that I wanted something with rice and a some spice and flavor, half way through my meal I asked if it was fish that I was eating… it turned out to be fried anchovies with rice!

Thank you to Hui Min, Yunn Hanm, E. Laine, Suan See, and Alicia!

We then took an overnight train from KL to Gua Musang in the state of Kelantan…

More on Gua Musang later…
