Project Abraham

We have been serving at Project Abraham for about a month now. The project is located about thirty minutes from our base. It was originally a church, most of it was built out of glass shipping containers that were donated from a local company.  Later the church added a daycare center and a children’s home.  A family and some orphans live within each house. The purpose of having the orphans live with the family is to give them the love and care that they need. The entire place is covered by gorgeous art from the inside and out. Project Abraham intended on building more children’s homes a few blocks away, but the government told them that they no longer gave out permits to do so. The project had another idea: they would use the housing for single moms.

We have been working in the garden, cutting bushes and getting rid of dead leaves. Our contribution to the single moms housing was the construction of a rebarb the old fashioned way. We have painted roof pillars and cleaned a lot of windows, with sketchy ladders. We taught the children the fruits of the Spirit and read the story of Noah’s ark and the flood.

Funny story: On the second day of ministry we got pranked by our ministry host. In the morning, we were heading to the shed where we met the day before. When CJ slid the door open and a bucket of water fell right on his head. That’s when I knew this ministry would be my favorite.
