I was born in Beijing, China in 1999. When I was around 12 months old my biological mother abandoned me at Tiananmen Square at what is called Monument to the People’s Hero. I was found by a police officer and later named Yun, Lianmin which means Near The People. I went to live with a wonderful foster family for five years. They took me to see places like The Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, as well as, taking me to see various shows. When the Olympics were in Beijing in 2008, I was living in Beijing Shuenyiqusi Second Orphanage. While we did not get to go to any events, there was a lot of excitement and special activities for us there at the Orphanage. When I was 12, I was adopted by an American family who lived in Texas. In 2012, there was some paranoia that the world was going to be ending soon. I was scared and extremely concerned. Wide-eyed, I went and spoke with my parents about it. They assured me that God is in control of the world. And only the Heavenly Father knows the times and dates set for the End Times, not even Christ knows. I felt that God was powerful and that humans were not running things. This experience lead me to place my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I am now a Senior in high school. I am home schooled and go to a co-op two days a week. As I was researching my options for next year, I learned about The World Race. I was really excited about this possibility and so applied. When I learned I got accepted, I felt like God chose me for this Gap Year Program. I can’t wait to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.
