I was invited to a ladies luncheon garden party to celebrate spring not too long ago. It was so beautiful! Our hostess did a miraculous job with the décor. Many of us sat or reclined on colorful cushions along a long low table ladened with fresh cut flowers, fruits, chesses, and desserts. Fairy lights were strung strategically above our heads. Our cool sparkling drinks were garnished with lemons and sprigs of lavender encapsulated by ice. Everyone was dressed for the occasion in flowing floral colored dresses or festive pastel dyed tops. As I sat there resting among this group of sisters on such a fine spring day, a wonderful thought began to bloom in my head…..
Here with all these beautiful women richly adorned, I could imagine a magnificent flower in their place. A gladiolus laughs at a daisy’s joke while some irises talk about hope and new beginnings with a lily and a daffodil or two. Is this how God sees his daughters I wonder? A seed He cared for that grew into a gorgeous bloom. The great gardener that He is, tenderly caring for all in His nursery. Each flower is uniquely different from the next, but all are a dewy glittering splendor in His eyes. He knows all by name and delights in their colors and fragrances. Here all of us are gathered in God’s resplendent garden; growing deep, deep roots in the rich abundant soil of His love, grace, kindness, and mercy.
