Well, its been one whole week in Zambia.

Here is a short summary:

Zambia looks like getting FULLY FUNDED ($16 over the goal on the 16th of October). God provides. God is good!!!!

Zambia looks like 100 degree weather with an occasional warm air breeze. It looks like 15 hour power cuts which causes us to cook on two braziers outside. Zambia looks like killing cockroaches of all sizes and ants that bite. It looks like bucket showers and hand washing clothes (thank you mom and dad for making me hang clothes out on the line when I was little). Zambia also looks like instant coffee, lots of naps, and lots of laps around the base to get a mile in.

Zambia looks like community outreach, and a women’s Bible study led by men ??. It looks like kids programs full of Bible stories, dancing, and games. Zambia looks like being told an hour before church that you have to share a mini “sermon”. It looks like making relationships with all kinds of amazing people.

Zambia looks like late night Macarena dancing and lots of nshima (traditional African food). It looks like early morning Jesus time and waking up in a pool of sweat. Zambia looks like teaching our hosts new English words like flimsy and friends-y. It looks like pulling weeds and having a permanent stain of dirt on your feet.

Zambia looks like using natural resources for a workout like tires, flower pots, swings, and bags of flour. It looks like always running out of toilet paper and a stove that shocks you unless you are wearing shoes or standing on a rug. Zambia looks like Haley screaming after seeing any bugs as she proceeds to spray the heck out of them with bug killer. It looks like lots of laughs and new nicknames.

God has pushed me out of my comfort zone more than I can count this week. I can’t even begin to imagine what He will do these next three weeks in Zambia. Stay tuned!

Talk to you soon!
