It’s October 22nd, 2015.  Training camp is almost over.  We only have a few days left.  The squad leaders and mentors need to solidify teams today.  We have already had days of activities with different groups of people within our squad for the leaders to decide who would be on each team.  It is time for the last activity.  The six of us ladies are sitting in a semi-circle with our leaders as we are given six different pictures.

“Put the pictures in order by describing what is on each picture and without showing your team mates what you are looking at,” explains Brittany, one of our squad leaders.

It sounded kind of difficult, but we began explaining each picture one at a time and put them in order almost effortlessly.  We found our team.  We balance each other out and work well together.  This was the first time I enjoyed working with everyone that was placed on my team.

“God gave me a picture for you guys.  You are like a stained glass window.  You are each broken in different ways, but God is bringing you together to make a beautiful masterpiece.  It is the broken parts that bring you together,” Brittany explained.

Team Name – Stained Glass – Done

In month 1, we dove deep into each others stories.  We had meet “Tiffany” night, meet “Julia” night and so on for each person on our team.  We dove into the pain and began loving each other through each individual healing process.

Then we got to debrief in Banos, Ecuador in month two.  We dove deeper with our whole squad as we were completely vulnerable about our worst fears and we discovered strings the enemy had on us like puppets.  One at a time, we declared victory over these areas and grew through each one.

Then, we got a team change.  There were too few people on Team Starling and they had to be dispersed among other teams.  Team Stained Glass received a new team mate and changed our team name; meet Mary Heflin and Team Monarch.
