Hi!! I hope that you all are having an awesome week! I just wanted to write you a brief letter and update you on what’s going on with my journey in the World Race! I’m very excited and grateful to tell you that I have began the efforts of trying to raise my support. I wanted to say thank you for all of your support thus far. It is quite the encouragement. My heart feels an overflow of love and warmth, which makes this whole process a little sweeter!
God is continuing to move my life and it only confirms that this is where he is leading me! Last week I returned home from my training camp for the World Race. We had a ten day training camp in the North Georgia Mountains. It was the most incredible experience. I saw world’s shrink, hearts changed, and redemption brought! It was here that God began work on our hearts, and created a new family among us. It was also during this week that we learned more of what we will be doing while on the field.
At training camp we were preparing for the journey we are about to endure. Daily we lived in community with one another. We shared interesting cuisines from around the world. We took part in early morning workout sessions. We worshiped together, we ate together, we had our hearts broken together. We formed bonds. We became a unit. And through this God instilled in us declarations that we are the ones he is sending out, and we are the ones that have come to bring the message to the burdening world. It was here that the Wrecking Ball was formed. A new family knit together to bring Kingdom and hope to the world. It may not make sense to you; sometimes I look back and think what? But I can reassure you God showed up and He is about to wreck the nations! Sometimes, I think I do not know what I have gotten myself into, but then he reminds me that he is guiding the way, and it brings peace to my heart. I fully embrace any challenges, any highs and lows this next year. I jump fully into it all.
I will be surrounded by an amazing group of people. I am in a squad of fifty others, but I am traveling with a group of six other people. Our team name in Dunamis. It is the Greek word that translates dynamite. It means to be filled with the Holy Spirit and on fire with God. They are an amazing group of people. My hopes are that you pray for them too. We are now a new family.
So what did I learn? I learned that this may cost me everything. This next year is about giving up comfort, family, friends, desires, and a job. But I gain all of that and so much more in return. This year we will be living out of nothing more then a backpack and a tent. It’s about living a life of abandonment. Our hopes are to become one with the cultures we minister to.
As launch date nears, I am still in need of funding. As of November 1st I am at $1700. I must raise a totally of $15,500 to take care of all my expenses for the next year. (The originally amount I told you in the first letter has changed and this is the new amount.) In order for me to launch in January with my team I have to have the first $5000 raised before December 15, 2010. The rest of the money I need to raise may come in while I am on the field. However, my prayers and hopes are that all my support would be raised before my leave date, so that I may fully focus on God and what He is trying to do while I am on the field.
