A glimpse into my month in Ukraine thus
far:
So it’s month 10 and I am living in the
city of Frunza (?) on the Crimean Peninsula. It feels weird here because I have
some civilization back in my life after living in rural villages these past two
months. I live with A Sound of Music-esque family who are some of the most
amazing people I’ve ever met. In total there are 23 of us living in one house.
The Russian speaking Belitsky family is full of natural musical abilities and
has amazing cooking talents (Think Amish minus the clothes and lack of
technology).
We are within walking distance of the Black
sea and it feels like walking into a painting when I walk out the front door. I
believe it’s a month of preparation. I know going back home is still a month
and a half away, but Ukraine is slowly easing me back into what I think it will
be like living in the states again. God has been favoring us so much this
month. We’ve had a wide array of different ministries, including gardening,
visiting with WWII vets in a nursing home and praying for the disabled at a
park. To sum it up in one word: Renewal. So far we’ve had a good amount of time
to finally rest and let God renew us.

Favorite past time:
Going to the BEACH
The beach is full of most of my favorite things: Beach volleyball, swimming (eventhough the water is icy cold), and gorgeous sunsets. The beaches here are also full of smooth stones, so you don’t get dirty like at most beahces.
A funny sidenote: The Black sea is full of
jellyfish and large men in speedos…When I dove in the water I came back up for
air and was slapped in the face by a jellyfish (Luckily Ukrainian Jellyfish
don’t sting). Also, men and women have no shame here…they like to let it all
hang out, young and old. I would post a pic but I’m not sure if it’s appropriate for your eyes.
Favorite Food:
Scones with honey butter and fresh compote
juice
