A coat. Hannah brought Samuel a coat.
And he was a growing boy, so for one coat to last him the whole year, Hannah made the coats bigger than Samuel. And he would spend an entire year growing into that coat.
At the beginning of the year, Samuel probably fumbled around, tripped on the sleeves, and had to learn to negotiate the laborious new coat.
But soon it would fit. For a season.
And just when the coat was starting to look like it was approaching tight, Hannah would arrive to give him another coat, full of more room to grow.
Now place that in the context of leadership.
Right now, my new leadership “coat” is pretty loose fitting. I am fumbling around trying to roll up my sleeves, and I will probably be that way for awhile. But that coat WILL FIT. Maybe it will even get too small, and God may bring me into a new season of growth somewhere else. New teammates, new bumps in the road, stretching ministries.
God always has a new coat to give us.
Our seasons of growth happen when we are uncomfortable.
Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone.
Dive into it.
