Hello there, reader.  When I first received an e-mail from Adventures in Missions informing me that my World Race Blog was set up and that I should write something on it, my response was, ". . . ."  What should I write about?  How I'm losing sleep over what my life will look like in the next couple of months?  The California weather?  My abnormal shoe size?  Nah.  No one would be interested in that.  (I'm a size 9, by the way.  My feet are annoyingly wide like a cavemans')

Instead, I've decided that I would do a blog post series called The World Bake! (Complete with exclamation point)  Which means, every week, to the best of my abilities, I will boil, dice, strain, drain, wash, peel, and/or bake my way through all of the destinations in my squad's route.  This is of course, not to undermine the importance of this crucial 6 month waiting period that God will grow, refine, and prepare me for the big journey, but to combine my two passions in life and keep me excited rather than intimidated or pensively brooding (as I am apt to do).

I also thought it'd be nice to explore the different cultures before launching myself into them with my ignorant American self.  Food is such a huge part of any culture, and it'll be nice to be acquainted with certain ingredients of a region or certain delicacies.  I hope to be able to find most of the ingredients, but if not, I'll probably improvise.  I will be finding most of the recipes online and it will be my first time making all of them, so bear with me 🙂

For this week, I decided to make a Filipino dish called "Ginataan."
"Ginataan" literally translates to "done with coconut milk."  There are, of course, many dishes (sweet & savory) that fall into this category.

The recipe that I decided to try is a ginataan dessert with miniature tapioca balls, sliced plantains, and jackfruit served cold.  Creamy, delicious, and refreshing!!

Here is the original recipe!
I made some adjustments.  I didn't add the bilo bilo, I used half coconut milk & heavy cream, and I served it chilled (I think it tastes better :))
