To delight literally means to have a high degree of pleasure, joy, satisfaction or enjoyment; rapture; to please highly. To find delight in something or someone is pretty special. However, the feeling of someone taking delight in you is something more special than words. To be desired and pursued in the smallest way is thrilling and brings joy to my heart. For someone to go out of their way to enjoy my company makes my day every time. We all want someone to delight in us. We all want someone to be full of joy when we enter a room. We all want to be loved and sought after. The truth is, we all ARE being pursued by the most majestic, incredible and magnificent person ever imaginable; Jesus.

“As the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you…the Lord delights in you!” (Isaiah 62:5)

When I wake up each morning, He is there waiting there with delight and joy in His eyes for me. How wonderful it is to be a child of God. Often, we are seeking this fulfillment in many other ways only to find out that it’s right in front of our faces. Let me tell you a little about this God we serve…

In His great plan of salvation for us, He not only FORGIVES His people, PROTECTS His people, HEALS us, PROVIDES for His people, RESTORES us, RECONCILES us to each other, TRANSFORMS us so we are righteous, HONORS us, EXALTS us above all nations, PURSUES us, ACCEPTS His people as they are, REDEEMS even the most broken – but more than ALL these things, God actually DELIGHTS in us, His people!

Now, I don’t know what kind of day you are having but if you aren’t feeling encouraged after reading that last paragraph you need to stop and reread it! He delights in you. Amongst many other things He does for us, the one thing God desires most is to know you personally. Jesus delights in you more than you can imagine. He approves of you continuously. He sees you cloaked in His light, arrayed in His righteousness. HE LOVES YOU.

Whatever you are facing today. Remember – the Lord can bring beauty out of the ashes of a lost dream. He can carry you through the pleasures and hardships of each day. With Him, nothing is wasted and nothing is too broken. Be invigorated today with His passion for you. His delight is in you. He has set His love on you. I hope you feel it today. Set yourself up with joyful expectations for this day ahead. He wants to take your breath away. Let Him.
