V11 "Give us this day our daily bread"
Where does your next meal come from? Right now, mine comes out of a missionary budget. Last month, I met people whose next meal came out of the dumpster. I am reminded of Matthew 14. Jesus withdrew and the crowd followed him wishing only to hear another word, catch another glimpse of his face or touch his cloak. They were willing to be without food in order to be near him; but, he has compassion on them and multiplies 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish to feed the multitudes. That day, 5 thousand men were fed plus women and children. Oh wow! That's a lot of people. Can you even imagine? I have personally seen God multiply food and feed more than it should have on a trip to Mexico.
Then 1 chapter later, Jesus is feeding 4000 people! So let's go back. Exodus 16. The people are wandering around in the desert following clouds and fire probably thinking that this is the end. They escaped Egypt but now they are going to starve. But no, God rains down bread from heaven and then quail when they begin to complain. Then in the next chapter God provides water from a rock. From a rock!
