Recently God has been teaching me so much about being adventurous in prayer.  I was convicted that I prayed to safely.  I didn’t challenge God to show up because most of my prayers could be accomplished by me in my own strength.  I decided to look more fully into prayer in the Bible, specifically Jesus’ prayers.  I have started with the most famous of prayers known to us as the Lord’s Prayer.  I have gone verse by verse.  I intend to post these as a series of which this is the first.

BE ADVENTUROUS IN PRAYER

V9. “Pray like this then: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name.”

Acknowledgement and praise are super important.  David spends many prayers reviewing God’s great works and praising His character and deeds (Psalm 104-106).  God’s deeds are mighty and His works innumerable.  He doesn’t need to be reminded of them but we do.  Chelsey reminded me yesterday of how little we simply praise him.  Praise puts things into perspective.  Those close to God praise him even in the most unlikely circumstances.  Job praised God in the midst of pain and great suffering saying “This would be my comfort; I would even exult in pain unsparing for I have not denied the words of the Holy One” (Job 6:10).  God does great things which we cannot comprehend (Job 37:5).
Start your prayers with praise knowing that this puts your life into perspective and fills you with the power of the Father.
