Hello my friends!!!! I am so excited to share with you that I SURVIVED training camp!! Yes, you heard me right, I am alive and thriving! Although camp left me physically, mentally, and emotionally drained, room was made so that I could be spiritually filled! I have never been so close with the Lord…EVER! In fact, I didn’t even know it was possible to have this great of a relationship with Him before this, and I could not be happier!
Now, I could go on and on and on and on about the MANYYY spiritual revelations that were made during training camp. Because let me tell you there were A LOT!
But I thought that I would dedicate this blog to the little things that I learned at camp. So here it goes :)))))
I learned that rain storms are absolutely thrilling.
spending half an hour with 2 of your squad mates shoving everyone’s things into random tents so they don’t get wet…(because the tarps totally DO NOT protect your things from a monsoon) might sound like an annoying task…but I’ll have you know that I have never laughed harder or had more fun in my life.
I learned that fireflies are REAL.
This one might seem dumb to the rest of you, but until this last week I had truthfully never seen a firefly in real life. And they are ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL!!!! Take advantage of the sight of those little bugs because not all of us get the privilege of seeing them all the time.
I learned to embrace the glitter!
Once it is somewhere…it is EVERYWHERE. Don’t fight it, embrace it. Become the glitter, let the glitter become you. I don’t think I came in contact with one person that didn’t tell me that I had glitter in my hair…trust me I know, and it is still in there haha
My good pal Dasia had a revelation about glitter, and she wrote a blog about it…you should check it out http://dasiaolivares.theworldrace.org
I learned that I hate sleeping alone.
Especially when all of your best friends are sleeping in tents not even 5 feet away.
I learned that obeying “quiet hours” is harder than it sounds.
I want to formally apologize to the entire camp for my loud voice after 11 o’clock. oops.
I learned that I LOVE back scratches.
And I want to thank all my lovely ladies out there who love to give back scratches. If you ever need a back to scratch mine is ALWAYS available.
I learned that I have no idea how to dance.
A big thank you to my good friends Taylor, Dasia, and Lillabea for helping me come to this realization
I learned if you try really hard you can fit 2 people in a one person sleeping bag and 4 people in a 1-person tent.
(most comfortable sleeping arrangements I have ever had…honest)
I learned that my new favorite thing to do is lay in a big field with 2 friends and marvel at the stars.
The beauty of the sky mixed with sharing childhood memories and a lot of laughs made that night one of the best that I’ve ever had.
I learned that the small things matter.
I could go on infinitely about everything that I came to realize at training camp, but the main point is that God has a plan for every single one of us, and that tomorrow will be anxious for itself. We need to live in the now, and take advantage of the little things that we are blessed with every single day.
