hello hello hello!
I am thriving and surviving in the Dominican Republic.
I’ve only been here for a few days but it already feels like a lifetime. I am here to update you on the things that I have experienced in the last few days.
to get here we had about a 3 ½ hour flight and then we all loaded up on buses for a 7-hour drive to our host home. we have an absolutely beautiful host family, some of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.
all of the meals we’ve had so far have been extremely delicious. (also tonight we hot chocolate with our dinner which I am overly ecstatic about)
fun fact: in the Dominican Republic it is custom to have a light breakfast, heavy lunch, and a light dinner.
all the girls get to sleep in a dorm together, so it is like a huge slumber party every night.
we have a pool that is fun to impulsively jump in fully clothed, we have a waterfall that we take magical showers in, we have a rooftop hangout that has the most amazing view, where we have worship, take naps in our hammocks, and listen to the sound of the daily afternoon rain storms make music on the tin roof.
it is absolutely amazing here
GUYS…fireflies literally fly around my bed every night.
I am in awe of everything that I have seen and experienced in the last few days
It is impossible to put everything into words.
I’ve met some great people and bonded with the cutest kids.
I had the privilege of helping clean up Hope Mountain from the damage of hurricane Irma
Today me and my team did prayer walks through the village
And tomorrow we have a public event planned for the children and parents of the town
God is already moving in all of our hearts here and I can’t wait to see what he does just in the next couple of days, let alone the next nine months
I added a few photos below 🙂
