The word YET is defined as up until the present or a specified or implied time; by now or then.
I have recently learned a different definition of this word. You’re Eligible Too. That means you still can be. Maybe you think oh well that hasn’t happened to me and then you get afraid that it may so you add the word yet. Or maybe you think somethingI can’t along the lines of do that yet, I’m just not ready yet. It’s funny how we look at successful people and read something or listen to something and say they are there but I am not yet. We base these assumptions of if we are ready or not on the sheer fact that someone else does something we wish we could do. I have big news for you. YOU’RE ELIGIBLE TOO.

I don’t think the people that we look up to write the book, sermon or song and then backed down because they weren’t ready yet. They didn’t have what it took to go after what they wanted because they just weren’t ready. No, they faced the fear that they may not be ready yet and went for it anyways. Sometimes being ready is great but when we begin to compare our dreams to those of others we deem have made it we tend get in our own way. I do this all the time including when it comes to writing these blog posts because I enjoy writing. But I think I’m not a writer yet maybe one day. I know that I want something so I’ll say it but throw in but not yet. It’s all based on fear. Whether it’s a fear of rejection or failure, humiliation or not being enough. If you’re not ready yet I have some news God doesn’t care. It makes me laugh when I think of how little God cares that we can declare ourselves ready when he can do anything. He takes our weakness and turns it upside down where we can shine in only a way that comes from knowing he has shown up.

So here’s my question to you. What do you want to do or be a part of that you are just not ready for yet. Because God’s been telling me that I am eligible too. And as much as it scares me, he’s right. I’m eligible for whatever is good, pure and has been put on my heart by a Father who wants nothing but success and joy for his son. I like to think of David for this one. What if he allowed the word yet to stop him from going into battle. Because by our standards he wasn’t ready yet. But he took that word and flipped it upside down. He decided why not me? I am eligible too.

Whatever God has put in your spirit and on your heart. Do it. Because chances are you are eligible too. But are you willing to take the risk to go after what you want? Are you willing to face your fears of not being enough? Maybe, just maybe, God wants to show you that you are enough. I know I am.
