The World Race #nofilter.

Here’s to the World Race #nofilter.  The real World Race.  Not the one on Instagram or Facebook.  Not the elephant riding, scuba diving, beach bum, baby holding, palm tree, mountain top World Race.  This IS the 100 degree, diarrhea, rice every day, heavy pack, “Hey, can you preach a sermon 10 minutes from now?” World Race….and how to make the most of it.

Because just like life, your race is really what you make it.

So when you wake up in a pool of sweat and have no food for breakfast, tell yourself how great your day is about to be.  Because there might just be kids jumping outside waiting for you to wake up and come tackle them.

When your host hasn’t told you what you’re doing that day or a time to be ready, it’s really okay.  The world isn’t going to end.  Just wait.  Make the most of where you are at the moment.  You can wait around all day OR you can walk down the street and buy all the guys building idols a round of Coke’s.

When you have an evening off and all you really want to do is go to a coffee shop for a couple of hours, but every coffee shop you walk to in the burning sun is closed because of a New Year celebration (that takes place in April? lol wut.)… roll with it.  It happens.

When stuff comes up unexpectedly, or you’re asked to lead a church worship session on the spot.. laugh.  Laugh in every moment you get an opportunity.  Because somehow those situations go from being “Did he seriously just ask that?  That’s really frustrating and inconsiderate.” to “This one’s goin’ in a blog y’all.. Hollaaaa.”

Have a YOLO mindset with ministry.  Don’t have a YOGTSTHO mindset (You’re Only Going To See This Host Once), but have a “I’m only going to get the opportunity to have lunch with these construction guys this one month of my life.” mindset.  Or a “I only have 10 more days to buy this street kid some ice cream this month.” mindset.  Or this “This woman makes some bangin’ fried rice and she deserves my food budget this month.” mindset.  Really, Lamar was on to something (It was Kendrick Lamar, right?).

I know you’ve heard it, but the race is really what you make it.  Waking up with a crappy attitude everyday never got anybody anywhere.  Even Albert Einstein said that once, I’m pretty sure.  So with that being said, don’t have expectations.  Make the most of your race.  You can be an atmosphere changer with your attitude.  It’s up to you whether you want it or not.
