Throughout this journey I am learning the meaning of vulnerability. It has many different forms and fashions. One of which involves sharing our deepest most internal thoughts. I did that this last month at debrief, and you know what. It wasn’t as bad as it seemed.
The most valuable Gold is often deep. Such is at least the case with our thoughts. If the enemy can’t stop us from seeking truth, he will sure try to get us to hide it, and bury it when we do find it. He may even make us feel insecure about sharing them. This is often how he can stop the spreading of the truth, of the Good news. He cloaks it in shame.
But I am not called to live in shame. So this blog post I want to share openly one of these deep thoughts of mine. After sharing it with several team mates I was encouraged to share it more broadly. I am not saying it is perfect, or exactly the only way you should look at it. But I do wish to create a dialogue of thoughts, of searching, seeking, desiring, and curiosity. Curiosity of a pure intention, motive to seek the truth of who is God? and what are his characteristics? a revelation of his face perhaps.
so here it is. This is a question I asked myself once, so it is written out in question–> answer format. it is a dissection, to conclusion setup. feel free to add your thoughts/ dialogue in the comments below!
without further ado:
What makes a soul beautiful? is it simply the earthly beauty, the curls of the hair? Or is it something deeper. Perhaps the answer lies within the same answer as to why one would choose to marry another, because they see the beauty of the others soul, and it makes them glad, gives them hope and happiness. Perhaps beauty is the realization, or discovery of Gods creation, it is surely the softest part of the heart.
See beauty does not age, nor grow hard, it is a part or portion of our identity, whether it is covered up by the calloused hurts of life or not. some wear it openly like a badge, others hide it like a secret, it is a beauty to only be discovered by the most persevering, or aggressive. But we all have it, somewhere, whether we realize it or not.
Seek out the beauty that is within you, because therin lie’s God’s character. We are all blessed with this identity, a piece of the character of God, completed only by and through him. It is the kindness towards the stranger, the seeking for justice, truth, or righteousness, it is the compassion towards the shipwrecked, abandoned, or lonely, but nonetheless still beautiful. Beauty cannot be stained, but only covered, by grace, or pain.
The more you seek the father, and the creation he made you to be, the more beauty that shines forth from your soul, for the father is the essence of beauty, pure love, light, He is more pure than the finest Gold, brighter than light itself, loving beyond understanding , and beautiful beyond comprehension.
Seek first this beauty in all those you meet, for it is there somewhere, perhaps it is just a small seed, needing the water that is Gods grace, to grow until it can see the sun for itself. For some seeds are buried deep. Others are strong and firm, and healthy, but need pruning. Do so with great caution, and awareness, so as not to pick from the healthy portions. But in all these things seek beauty first in a soul, for what you seek you will find, and nourish, so above all seek and find the beauty within one another.
