A World Race Sunday in the Philippines
7 am Breakfast
9 am Sunday School. Teach 28 children (ages 7-16) the ‘God made me’ lesson.
10 am Church, which is located at the same pavilion we eat at.
12 pm start cooking lunch (sunday’s we cook for ourselves)
1 pm lunch time
1:30 pm find out I get to drive the van to jail
2 pm load up the van to go to the Malaybalay City Jail for jail ministry
2-5 pm Jail Ministry. Myself & Ashley ministered to the women’s cell. Because of activities in the courtyard, they had to stay in their cell. Things like visitation and ministry are way different here then in the States; you walk into the jail and sit outside their cells to speak to them. And their visitors can bring them things like clothes, food, music… and pass it through through the cell door. Read parts of Romans and 1 Corinthians with them. Listened to their stories and prayed for them. Other World Racers were ministering to the minors cell while some guys ministered to the guy’s cells.
5 pm return home
5:15 pm hang out with some kids from the orphanage
5:30 pm watch some World Racers learn how to drive a motorcycle (thank goodness we have a really long driveway here).
6 pm load up the van for Honor Scholars & Gangster Ministry
6:07 pm realize that driving overseas is going to impact my driving when i get home and people follow rules of the road
6:20 pm Honor Scholar Ministry – the top students from the college meet for ministry. Got to break into groups of 3; the 2 students that I talked with had increadible testamonies.
7:15 pm Gangster Ministry. A mix of kids (ages 12-16) from different gangs that meet once a week for ministry. An INCREADIBLE group of kids & the pastors that run the group are an inspiration. Got to hear their beatboxing and rap skills. Talking with the girls in the group was awesome. People really like asking us how old we are and if we have boyfriends/girlfriends. When we say no they laugh and look at us weird. Then again, one girl I talked with last night is 19, married to another guy at the gangster ministry with a 1 yr old daughter.
9:20 drive home.
10:30 bed time
good day
