You did not choose me, but I choose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit – fruit that will last. Then the father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command: Love one another. John 15:16-17

Looking back at month 2, Cambodia was an increadible time. God did much work through our ministry, on our hearts, and with everyone we encountered. With everything that happened though, there was one event in particular that really stuck out.

One night God woke me up to pray for one of my teammates who’d been having weird dreams. I prayed for what God told me to pray for, and when I asked my teammate about it the next morning, they confirmed everything God had told me.

Honestly, that probably wasn’t “the biggest” event of the entire month, yet it seems to have impacted me the most. Why?

Because it got me thinking…. God doesn’t really need us. I mean, he’s GOD. He is the alpha, omega, the creator, the all mighty, king… he is God. God could have just stopped my teammate’s dream; he didn’t really need me to pray for it. And yet, he woke me up, told me specifics, I prayed, talked with my teammate, and the glory of God was revealed as we saw how God cares for his kids and how he allows us to be a part of the story.

God doesn’t need us. He chooses us.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he choose for his inheritance. Psalm 33:12

Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to hame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things – and things that are not – to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. 1 Corinthains 1:26-29

God chooses us for intimacy with him; for lives of abundance; for lives of purpose, grace, and love; for lives of impact; to bring justice & freedom; to live under the law of grace as we have been freed from the law of sin.

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. Ephesians1:4

How crazy is that?

How AMAZING is that!

I’ve “messed up” enough times in my life, and yet through God’s grace and mercy he allows me to be a part of bringing his Kingdom of love to Earth. God chooses us to pray for our teammates. God chooses us to pray for the orphanaged, abandoned, negelected and abused. God chooses us to love the unlovely. God chooses us to love. To love deeper, more passionatly, and more intentionally. Because that is who God is.

But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the begining God chose you to be saved throuh the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 2 Thessalonians 2:13
