When it was time to start raising support for this trip, I made a list of everyone I know who I thought would be most likely to support me on this trip. I totaled up the list, divided the number by $15,000 (total cost of trip) and got $67.
“So if everyone I send a support letter to donates $67, I’ll be fully funded. Sweet! This is going to be easy”
What a joke.
Here’s the problem with my $67 logic: it took God completely out of the picture. My support raising was based 100% off me. Off of who I know, who I could talk into donating, who I could network to, what I could do.
Me, myself, and I.
God wants to show me how serious he is when he said, ‘I shall supply all your needs.’
God wants to blow me away with his generosity and love and provision. He wants me to walk away from this support raising experience with an increadible testimony of how faithful he is and use it to bring him glory and inspire others. He wants me to rely completely, 100% on him and no one else.
I’m sure you’ve figured out by now that my $67 logic crashed and burned – real fast.
haha oh well… it’s better this way.
Here are my numbers:
Cost of trip: $15,000
Currently have: $5, 436
Monthly sponsorship: ($100 x 11 months) $1,100
Amount still needed: $8,464
