Starting ministry in Guatemala.

It seems like forever since we’ve arrived in San Pedro, but only a few days have past.  After some meetings and logistical arrangements, we have now made contact with the two places we will be working at for the following two weeks.  Our two Canadian friends, Michelle and

Elena have been very kind in introducing us to two different daycare
centres where they have been working for the past few months.  Both daycare centres are only two months old and there is still MUCH physical work to be done in order to uplift the quality of education the children will receive.

The centre up in the mountains desperately needs a safe playground, and although the space is verly limited, we will try our best to build swings, etc. for the children to play on.  The ladies looking after the kids also need lots of help in the kitchen and general tasks during the day, so we have a lot to offer by means of physical help.  The children are BEAUTIFUL and we quickly grew fond of them.  We will move there for a few days from next week Tuesday in order to finish the work there.  It’s a long drive up the mountain, so we will be sleeping there for a few nights.  – It’s MUCH colder up in the mountains than here by the lake!

In San Pablo there is a great need to fix the toilet and give it a DOOR.  At the moment there is only a “see through” plastic that gives one very limited privacy, and the toilet is right in the  middle of the playground! We will also be fixing some cupboards in the kitchen and one of the classes, as well as putting up a white board.  The playground is also in desperate need of swings, goal posts, etc., so that ought to keep us busy for a while!  Once again, the children are wonderful and the parents who voluntarily look after them are very committed to making life in the daycare centre as pleasant as possible.  Their hospitality warmed our hearts and we look forward to helping them in any way we can.  We will start working here early tomorrow morning and aslo the whole of Saturday.

Our team is extremely
tired of all the travelling and we really have not had a chance to just rest a bit and “recover”.  Please pray for physical strength and for our health.  Anita and Lana have both been struggling a bit with flu symptoms.  Although they are doing better, their energy levels are still low.  Jacques and Stefan are still going strong, though!  Please pray for the work we will do and that the Lord will make it a blessing to the people we come in touch with.  Thank you for all your prayers.  Also keep our friends and family at home in your prayers, we often miss them.  We will keep you posted!

Greetings in Christ,
Team MXP
