…She’s pregnant!!!

Right as I was leaving for the race, my sister found that she was pregnant. I am going to be an uncle!! About 20 weeks in, she found out that she was having a boy.
            His name is Dawson Gray.

I am so excited to meet him! I will be Africa when little Dawson is born I believe.

I was talking to my sister what she wants for Dawson’s life. She told me that she wanted him to happy and healthy, but what good mother doesn’t want that for their child?
So I challenged her. I challenged her to think specifically about she wants for his life. So she thought about and she told me what she wanted for his life.

This made me begin to think about the question for myself. What do I want? What do I want from God specifically for me and then for others? I didn’t have an answer.
If someone were to ask you, or if God were to ask you “what do you want?” would you have an answer? I don’t think God needs us to know specifically what we want, because I think he knows us better than we know ourselves.
I think the benefit of knowing specifically what we want from God is that we can see progress in ourselves easier, and when the Lord answers a prayer for you, you can see it more clearly as well.

So what do you want specifically from the God? I know that for me, I am praying for Dawson every day that he will grow up to be a man that makes a difference in this world. That he will stand up for those who don’t stand up for themselves. That he will be a leader of men. That he will be like David who was a man after God’s own heart and follows relentlessly after Jesus.

My grandmother prayed for me when I was being born in the hospital and hasn’t stopped since. Her consistent and specific prayers have helped shape me into the man that I am turning to be, and I am so very thankful for her prayers.
