I’m Watching My Friends Die

The World Race does a lot of things to a person, like allows us to break social norms, try new foods, meet new people, and serve our hearts out. But there is one thing that I may have saw coming but not to the extent that I have seen… Death.
I have never seen so much dying in my life than I have on the world race. Now know that it is a good thing, dying is a good thing. Don’t exit out of this blog just yet…
What I’m talking about is something that even scripture talks about, and that’s dying to yourself. What I mean is putting others first, taking humility on as a lifestyle rather than something we need to remind ourselves of, and serving the people around them with everything that they got.

Mathew 23:11-12 talks about that the greatest among us is the servant, and that if we exalt ourselves we will be humbled and if we humble ourselves we will be exalted. That’s what I am seeing on my Squad, I’m seeing sacrifice, choosing others 1st, and humbling us for the sake of the gospel.

This month in Malaysia we have teams like “Sweet Aroma” who is looking for any opportunity to serve Jesus by asking him for divine appointments, they get to take advantage of the time that they have and serve and pray for the for the people that they meet on the streets.
Team “Sons and Daughters” gets to go the hospital every day and pray for those who are sick and dying. They are also helping the hospital raise funds by doing things like playing guitar and building relationships.
Our Team “Living Water” is working with a multi media company called LUMA which is putting together a huge project to connect the community through heritage, and the arts, while allowing Christ to be the center of it all.

Our teams are serving others and leaving everything we got out on the court. We refuse to finish this race and not be sweating, bruised, bloody, and tired. If we aren’t doing that, then we might as well go home.

So we are dying to ourselves and living for the kingdom of heaven. And yes it’s hard, and yes it’s worth it.
