The other day, we had a surprise birthday party for one of the orphans and it was a beautiful thing.
As the sun was setting over the lake and behind the mountains, we wrapped balloons around pillars and Brittany helped make the cake. We had to pretend that it was one of our birthdays, so Angela put on a blindfold and sat in a chair. As the children circled her we counted down from three and instead of saying surprise, we said SUJAN!!! Which was the little girl’s name whose birthday it was.

She covered her mouth in shock and was soooooooo happy. We started off by playing musical chairs, then we moved to an Easter egg hunt where all the kids ran around to try to find eggs that we hid earlier. After that we played some amazing birthday music and cracked open a giant piñata; kids and candy were everywhere.
Now you cant have a birthday without cake, so we sang her happy birthday, ate cake, drank soda, and then of course… Danced!!!!! It was so fun to be at this beautiful birthday party, and to see how much like a family these kids and staff is with each other. Everyone looks out for each other and celebrates with each other. They all love how you are supposed to love and it was a humbling experience. I want to love people like these kids love each other.
