Hello again from a soggy Southern Mexico!!! Things around here are incredibly wet! It has rained for 3 days now and the rivers have begun to rise. The streets around the church we are staying at are about ankle deep with water and some houses are beginning to get some water inside.

Spirits seem to remain pretty high however. According to Pastor Javier and Agustine this happens about two or three times a year. The people around here pray that the rain will stop so they can clean out their houses and continue with life. Until then the children stay home and find new and creative ways to play indoors.

Our planned ministry has pretty much stopped because of the rain, though ministry continues. We wont get to return to our colonias and hold another service for them (complete with some pretty awesome clowns if I do say so myself). However, yesterday when our plans were cancelled, we decided to drive into to Villahermosa, past flooded banana fields, and cows being herded along the roads. We went to WalMart and bought tons of food and a couple reminders of home. About 8 oclock last night we cooked lasagna, garlic bread, salad, cupcakes, and brownies for the pastor, his family, and the drama team in appreciation of all they have done for us. They all really enjoyed the lasagna and especially the garlic bread, but were a little confused at this stuff called salad. Uncooked vegetables, mixed together, with a weird sauce on top? Who would do such a thing? A few brave souls attempted our strange concoction, but most stuck with what looked safe. The cupcakes and brownies, though nearly consumed last night, also provided a great breakfast this morning!

Please continue to pray for this place as they are asking for the rain to stop. Though this is not unusual, you can see the toll it takes as mothers look at the mess they will soon have to begin cleaning. It seems that there hasnt been a large extent of damage, but we wont know for sure until the water recedes. Until then, this is a soggy brown team, signing off.
