Welcome!
For those who don’t know me, my name is Tessa Pollari. I’m from a small town in northeast Ohio called Hiram, located just 45 minutes east of Cleveland.
A few years ago I never imagined that I would do something like The World Race. I used to have my life planned out. A year abroad didn’t fit. But, after a couple attempts at choosing a career, a heartbreak, a 3-month trip to Swaziland, a failed thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail, hitting a low, stepping further into who God created me to be, and a few newfound passions, I’ve changed. I’ve become a woman who loves relaxing in her hammock, long drives, painting, trying new things, reading, business, music, teaching, children, spontaneity, exploring, Jesus, learning, outdoors, creating, hiking, traveling, and cultures. I didn’t become a different person I just became more myself.
This past year I decided to return to school at The University of Mount Union and pursue a teaching degree, fully intending to graduate as soon as I could. Until, God reminded me of a time two years ago when He lead me to The World Race. I wrote in my journal “I am going to go.” Long story short, I went on a shorter trip to Swaziland instead. And after returning to school, The World Race no longer fit into my “graduate ASAP” plan. But, one day I was listening to a sermon on my way to work when the preacher asked the question, “What calling have you given up on because it didn’t happen when you planned it to?” Immediately my mind flashed to The World Race. It’s important to never hold on to plans so tightly that you don’t have room to follow God’s lead.
Now, instead of making you read another paragraph (your welcome), Here are some quick facts!
I was born January 26, 1994.
I have three older brothers (Tyler, Travis, and Turner. Together we are known as the “4-Ts”)
My parent’s house is the gathering place, which means there are constantly little kids running around.
I have always believed God existed, but I didn’t choose to surrender my life to Him until I was saved a few years into high school.
I am member at New Testament Baptist Church. The people in my church have truly become family to me.
I babysit and work for my dad’s business along with Tyler and Travis.
I smile a lot.
My personality type is Extraversion + Intuition + Feeling + Perceiving. It supposable means I’m enthusiastic, imaginative, energetic, creative, warm, future-oriented, individualistic, insightful, caring, optimistic, possibility focused, open, novelty seeking, spontaneous, and playful.
I have recently taken up watercolor painting and love it!
My favorite author is Annie F. Downs. She wrote the books Lets All Be Brave and Looking For Lovely. You should read them! Currently, I’m reading Wild and Free by Jess Connolly & Hayley Morgan. It’s so good!
I am so excited for God to work through me and in me on The World Race! I know it’s going to be an adventure, so make sure you follow along by subscribing to my blog!
