I have to admit it’s been hard getting used to being called a missionary. But when you think about it, I guess we are all missionaries with different mission fields. God doesn’t call us all to foreign lands, if He did who would be left to care for the flocks at home, or at work, or in our local churches.
My good friend Perry Prosch, Pastor of the Wheelersburg United Methodist Church invited me to speak to his congregation about the World Race and share how God is working in and through my life.
I was given about 15 min to share the promo video for the World Race and tell about my involvement.
Perry’s sermon was from Matthew 25, one of my favorite scriptures. He talked about being sheep or goats about doing or not doing and the attitude of our hearts. The worship committee had prepared special offering envelopes with my name and the World Race on the front and placed them in every bulletin. The congregational and choir music was all centered around doing and going. At the end of each service I stood at the back of the church with Perry, where folks shook my hand and blessed me with their words of encouragement and support. Needless to say I was very touched by their reception.
At the conclusion of the second service Margie Ferguson came to me and asked if I needed a tent. Yes, I do, I answered. She had a brand new 2 person, 3 season, ultra light weight tent that had never been used. She’d received it as a gift and hadn’t had the opportunity to use it. She gave me that tent.
After lunch with some special friends, I went to the Ferguson’s home and picked up my new tent.
Thank you Margie and Stan Ferguson for listening and being obedient…”Whatever you do for the least of these….”
Isn’t it amazing how God provides for all our needs.
