Daniel is a soft-spoken middle-aged man from Bur/ma who had
his leg blown off by a land mine a few years back. His wife has split from him
and taken his two children.  He
moved to Thailand five years ago and begs on the streets.  He has been arrested several times,
thrown in prison for a few days and is then sent back to Bur/ma. He always
comes back though.

What hope does this man have? What keeps his eyes lit up and
the smile on his face? This man is a child of Christ. A complete person who has
value and he knows he has value in Christ.

Daniel wakes up every morning and reads his Bible and prays.
Then he teaches himself English from a Burme/se-English dictionary. His English
is very good and having a conversation with him is relatively easy. He attends
a church on Sunday and even invited us to attend.

I am blessed beyond belief to have met Daniel and was able
to spend 2 nights talking with him.

The what if questions come back though. What if I was him?
What if I was in his situation? Would I be happy with the hope found in Christ?
Or would I be in a state of depression because of my physical situation? Daniel
taught me a lot about being happy and finding value in Christ in every
situation we find ourselves in.

God also taught me that when He presents opportunities for
us and we know we are supposed to do something but are unsure what it looks
like, to just jump in and let God have control over it. You never know what you
might miss out on if you simply walk on past.
