The month of May was what AIM likes to call our Asian ATL
(Ask The Lord) month. So that’s what we did. In March we began praying about
where God would have us go. We felt like He was saying “go to L-a-o-s” which is
a closed country. Closed meaning that the government regulates the religions
people can practice in the country.
So we decided that this is where we would go and began
searching for contacts. Our first search led us to a couple (for protection,
names, places, ministries and photos will not be mentioned/shown) who has been
in Asia for over 18 years. We
began contacting them but still searching and asking God for His plan while we
were in the country. The next time we came across a contact it was the same
couple. And the next time, and the next time as well. God gave us this couple
(to be referred to as George and Janie) as a contact four different times
through four different people. “Okay God, we understand, this is where we are
supposed to be.”
So we set off. And we quickly found out that not only did
God want us to go to this country but also He wanted to give us every little
need we would have. Part of ATL month is having to depend on God that much more
by having a smaller budget. We had $400 per person this month to live off of
when we normally have $500. Our first blessing was a guesthouse where we had
air conditioning for a mere $2.52 per person per night. Our second blessing was
free transportation 90% of the time. Our third immediate blessing was free
meals provided by other people we met in town. “Alright God, this is where you
want us!!!”
Once we began ministry we were quickly blessed again by
having free lunch Monday thru Friday.
Then we found out we could do our laundry at George and Janie’s house
(washer AND DRYER!!!!) for free and check our email for free at their house as
well. So budget wise we were pretty set for the month. God has an awesome
ministry through George and Janie and we were blessed beyond belief to get to
work with them. Basically we built relationships with people who had issues
with addictions. We worshiped, prayed, performed skits, and discussed the Bible
with them.
Then God decided that He wanted to give us even more of a
blessing. With about 10 days left before we would be leaving the country God
decided that He wanted to provide free housing. A couple was leaving the
country for a few months and wanted us to live in their house for the remainder
of our stay. We would then all
have beds, air conditioning, showers, kitchen, washer, dryer, internet, and a
TV to play DVD’s on!!! All for free.
When the month was said and done, each person was about $100
under budget AND we had already gifted $350 to our various ministries and home
groups we attended
I have learned from this month that when you
hear God calling you somewhere and you trust that He is going to take care of
you He will provide in abundant ways every little detail you may need.
