Faith

What do you do when you realize that you say you have it but are not doing what you are supposed to do with it?

The first question is: What are you supposed to do with it? If you don’t know that then how do you know you have a question to answer?

So what is Faith? Faith in what? Jesus Christ. But really what are you supposed to do with that faith? So many people say they are Christians and that they ‘have faith’ but when it comes time to step out on that faith and trust that God will take care of them and not let them fall they cower in the corner and say “No God, not me, can’t you use someone else?” This is where people start to get called hipocritical Christians. They say they believe but when it really comes down to it, will they put faith in their faith?

I don’t want to be that type of Christian. There are enough of those in church every Sunday. I want to be different. I want to “have the kind of faith it takes to move a mountain”. Why? Because that kind of faith is actually out there and I believe that. So what does having that kind of faith mean?

It means that when a task is put in front of you, you don’t cower in the corner and say “Ask me again in a month, maybe then I will do it”. I means that when God calls you, you go without hesitation. It means that you trust that if God is calling you to something new, different and crazy you go without hesitation. Because if you really have faith, the kind of faith that says “I’ll go, send me” that you also have the faith that God will protect you in whatever he is calling you to do.

So what happens when you step out on that faith? Great, powerful, God things happen when you step out on that faith. When you step out on your faith and go where God wants you to go you gain a new type of relationship with God. Let me back track for a moment. When you don’t answer Gods call and say maybe next time God, your relationship to God doesn’t change, its you inside that changes. You know that you have denied the Father and you become ashamed at what you have done. But then you go and do it again. When you listen to God and do what He is calling you to do you have a different feeling inside. An encouraging spirit enters you. You have said “Yes God I will go” and once you have said that you know that you can say it again and again.

If God is calling you, undeniably calling you to do something rest assured that He has a way for you to do it, a plan for what it looks like, and that He will take care of you while you are doing it. If He didn’t want you to do it then he wouldn’t already have it planned out for you.

The scary thing about faith is, that when you hear God’s call, sometimes is seems like the craziest thing in the world. It could be mortifying to think exactly of what it is that He is calling you to do. I think that this is when you know it really is a call from God. If you have not noticed the story of God and Jesus Christ is not just another storybook fairy tale. It is a crazy story that no one could make up on their own. I mean really think about it. Dying on the cross and raising from the dead 3 days later. If someone had thought Christianity up, I should think they would have come up with something a little more believable than that. But I digress.

I think it is safe to say that the crazier the thing God is calling you to do, the more likely it is really a calling from God.

For instance, me moving to North Carolina for a part time youth ministry position. I didn’t know anyone in NC. It was a part time position. But I felt as though it was what God was calling me to do. He provided housing for me when I got here, he provided money to get out here from graduation gifts (almost to the penny) and he has a reason for me being out here. He has a plan for me while I am here.

So where do you stand? Do you have faith in your faith or are you sitting back and saying “Nope God that cant be what you want me to do”. If your sitting back and waiting, trust me God will do something radical to get you to finally say yes. It just depends on how long and how much torture you want to put yourself through before you say “Yes God, send me”.

Why not say “Yes God” today and see what all God has in store for you. Trust me, it’s a fun-filled, amazing, crazy, ride when you say “Yes God” but if nothing else it puts your heart at rest knowing that you are doing what God wants you to do. Join the plan today, stop procrastinating.
