As I walked down the dirt path just meandering to see who I could just hang out with my eyes landed on a little boy waving to me from the door way. This was not just any little boy mind you. This was King! As his crippled body sat and his little arm waved in the air I walk over to meet him.

Oh, so this is where Mark lives.
“Hi! What is your name?
“King. and in perfect English asked, “What is your name?
“My name is Teresa.
Thinking that he knew more English I continued to ask him questions but soon realizing he did not know any more English I just sat down and started playing with his cars.

He is 7 years old. He is not allowed at school. There are not any special needs programs. Breaks my heart.
This is one of the main reasons why I went into Spec. Ed. at OSU. So I could go to a country that doesn’t have any programs and help with special needs there.
He wrote his name for the very first time the other day. It was precious.
He learned the song, Jesus Loves me.

His mom, well she is young. Has 4 little boys. Dad is at the beach all day giving tours.

King came to church. Chelsea, my teammate, spotted him. I was thrilled. I took him to children’s time with me. He was the most engaged boy there. If you could only have seen him singing and moving his arms to the worship music!
As I made my way to visit him I heard wailing. There he was sitting in his usual spot at the doorway crying his eyes out, “MAMA!!!!!
No one was home besides him. His mom has 3 other boys to care for as well.

The letter one was written perfectly, upside down 2, backwards 3, 4 great!, 5 is just too hard, backwards 6, flipflop 7. We stop. He was trying so hard. I know what it is like…well a little bit. He tried again. He got his 2 right! Well done King!!! Huge grin covered his face.
He has a little guitar. He sings, he strums, and he dances. I can barely stand it.

We went to the beach. He is terrified of water. The sand will be just fine.

I had to say goodbye. It was horrible. But it wouldn’t have been horrible if there was no love.
God, thanks for bringing King into my life. Thank you for teaching me more about the joy in the little things and once again how I can learn from anybody. Thank you for the plan and purpose you have for this little boy. Please provide a teacher who loves him. Thanks for caring about him more than I even do!
