Russell, our ministry leader, goes to the hospital every week to pray for the children there. This past Thursday we accompanied him.
As we made our way through the halls, and up the floors I was eager to see these children. When I laid my eyes on the first child I got a flashback to the suffering children I worked with in Romania. In that moment I felt God pour His love down on me. As I stood there holding his crippled, sweating hand I started to pray. He was shaking and the blankets around him were soaked with sweat. As time went on he calmed down. His mom came to him and touched his face. As I spoke with his mom I was so incredibly grateful that he has a mom who loves him for who he is. I could tell as soon as he saw her he was comforted. He could not talk, walk, eat or do anything on his own; but his life is still impactful and valuable.
As I walked to another crib I came to a boy who was sleeping. Since he was sleeping I said a quick prayer over him and went on to the next child. About 15 minutes later I saw my teammates and Russell all around the once sleeping boy fervently praying. As I joined I saw his little body being distorted by a seizure that was not relenting, while the boy cried out. I noticed green strings that were tied around his wrists and ankles. It hit me this boy was bound to witchcraft. Witchcraft is a huge stronghold in this country. The stories I have heard from Russell are horrifying. Even though the procedures and rituals the witch doctors do are atrocious, there is no stop to it due to the fear of the “power the witch doctors have. We prayed for him and his family for life, freedom, healing and protection. We declared that the spiritual oppression on this child would be gone in Jesus’ name. We asked God that this boy would grow into a man of God, and that he would be a leader for Christ.
