Have you ever heard of the comparison of cattle in Australia versus cattle in America? The cattle in Australia are not fenced, because water and food are in the center of where they are located and they have everything they need. They do not need to wander and search for food. The cattle in America are all fenced in. The animals get as close to the fence as they can. This is like living under the law (the Ten Commandments) versus living in the freedom of Christ. If we are living under the law, we get as close as we can to the fence without going over it. We look longingly past the fence, wanting to see what is beyond it and not enjoying the miles of acres that we have to relish. If we live in the freedom of Christ, all we need is readily available. We don’t have to go and find things to satisfy us, because we are already satisfied. The well is central. Because of the grace of God I have been satisfied most of my life. But I started to live my life as though I had to do something to earn that well water, to earn God’s love. Over the course of many years God has been breaking down this lie.

This is another break -through and an addition to the comparison.

Background: I had to make a decision. I’ve been praying about it for weeks asking God what He wants me to do. I talked to my sisters in Christ for godly advice, and got different responses from them but they all used truth. I was so confused, and just so desperately wanted to do the right thing. Then I had a conversation with my squad leader, Alexandra. She told me something that right before I met with her I knew she probably would say. “For you, in this situation there is not a right or wrong, God is giving you the choice.â€ Most people like to make their own decisions and so do I, with simple things like what cheese to buy 🙂 (actually that can be a very challenging decision, but you know what I mean). The next blog I post will be the conversation I had with God after the talk with Alexandra.

Now wouldn’t you want to be the cows that are above!? 🙂
