This is a blog about my most wonderful mom for Mother’s Day. Now don’t stop reading because you are not my mom. Read it and be encouraged in what God can do in you to impact people around you.

My mom is one of the most beautiful people I have ever known. What makes her beautiful? Well, let me name the ways! First and foremost her devoted  love to the Lord. And through this there are so many things that attribute to her beauty.

My Mom taught us in school, had us join her in ministry by serving alongside of her. She was an example of how to worship God in everything, love people, and be a witness to many. These are just some ways she is so beautiful.

Let’s go to my childhood. She realized how important it was to pour into her kids off the bat. This in itself is a ministry. She was preparing warriors of Christ!

My mom spent countless hours in teaching me how to read. She did research and talked with experts in how to best help me grow in my education. She never gave up on me despite my frustrations and an unappreciative heart. This was incredible example of what God does for me every day.

She also loved me by loving my friends! During Junior High she planted the seed in me of the importance of studying the Bible with my buddies. She did this by leading a Bible study with my friends that continued all the way until we graduated High School. She would give my friends wisdom, and care about their lives. I was always excited to bring my pals home because I knew my mom would treat them as beloved children of God, no matter what kind of friend I brought home. This is how God loves everyone.

My mom has always trusted me. She let me go. She did not bind me to her. This shows her incredible trust in God and letting Him be in control. She let me try things on my own, figure out things by myself, go overseas alone, and make my relationship with God my own. This helped me learn how God trusts me and gives me the wisdom to live in this world.

My mom is not perfect, but even in her sin God used her to teach me. She confessed when she messed up. She would come to me if she had ever hurt me or let her emotions take control of her. This showed me even someone that I look up to is not perfect and how dependent we need to be on Christ forever.

My mom has always been my number one cheerleader. She is the best listener I know. This does not mean just sitting in silence while I talk but truly listening, drawing me out, giving me wisdom and encouragement, asking further questions, and just sympathizing. Or being quiet when she knew God needed to teach me it and she just needed to pray. It is like what God does when we talk to Him!

My mom has prayed for me every day of my life, and even before I came into existence! Not only that but she meets with women to pray for their children. She is a woman with an incredible relationship with God. This showed me the importance of praying and the impact it has.

That is why my mom is so amazing. It is because she is sold out for God. All the things that are beautiful about her are characteristics of Jesus. It is because she has surrendered her life to the One who made her and designed her, and let Him show His incredible love, grace, wisdom through her. She became and continues to become more of who she really is by becoming more like the One God designed her to be.

And we get the chance to do the same. We get the chance to be Jesus to people every day. And let me just tell you, you will have more of an impact on people that way than you will ever be trying to do it on your own.

Most people knew that I was my mom’s little shadow. I was glued to her. Looking back, I couldn’t think of a better person to be a shadow of. She not only was my mom but my teacher, mentor, encourager, helper, and one of my best friends.

I certainly LOVE you mom! Thanks for teaching me the most important thing in the world and being an example of Christ! I praise our Lord Jesus for letting me be your daughter!
