As we made our way to Swaziland my heart was so excited to be with my new family. After 5 hours of a beautiful van ride we winded our way up huge mountains; seriously, my insides were bursting! I have never in my life seen a more beautiful place! Swaziland is also one of the poorest countries in the world, and the statistic is that by 2050 the population will be extinct if the AIDS crisis continues here.

El Saddiah is a ministry that cares for orphans on top of a mountain. As you look out all you can see is other mountains covered in green, rocks, huts and trees. There have been so many things here that have filled me with joy.

View from outside our home.

On one of our morning runs, my teammate Jordan and I were running up a hill back to home. My lungs were burning, but then 3 girls who were walking to school decided to start running with us! They ran about a 1/2 mile with us and we were laughing and smiling almost the whole time. I have never had so much joy running up a hill. J

My new family

This week my family Yadda Kadosh (the name is two Hebrew words, Yadda: intimacy, to know God in the way He desires us to know Him. Kadosh: Holiness, to be set apart) was in charge of organizing the storage room. Let me just tell you how excited this made me! I love organization. We are almost done and it is beautiful (For someone who loves organization!)!now

I got to go with some of the girls to go find fire wood for the week (No apples here. They have to have a piece of wood every day to give to the teacher for cooking food). As we made our way on the dirt path I was pulled to an area over a huge rock. There in front of me were about 5 mountain goats!!! God’s creation never ceases to amaze me!

The girls here love to sing and dance. They have incredible voices and can harmonize like no other.  After tutoring, the girls and I went off to the church so they could sing for me. As I sat and listened in amazement at their talent I couldn’t stop praising God for the gift He has given them.

But all these things/experiences mean absolutely nothing. I did not come thousands of miles to clean a storage room, see some pretty sweet landscape, or see people’s talents. Friends from back home did not generously give to this trip for me to have some “coolâ€ experiences or just put a smile on a child’s face.  All those things will waste away! In the end those things mean nothing! So what does matter?
