Hello friends & supporters,
Many of you have followed my missionary journey’s throughout Spain, Haiti, and most recently Asia. For those of you that haven’t followed along, I’ll share a little about my journey so far. I was commissioned as a Missionary in 2010 by New Light Baptist Church and spent 3 months in Spain encouraging church leaders, and partnering in the way of cultivating a spirit of worship among the church communities. In 2011 I traveled with the missions department at New Light Baptist Church to serve as a part of an initiative to plant a medical center near Port-au-Prince. Also in 2011, I returned to Spain with a music ensemble to share the Gospel through song and testimony, an annual missions project that I’ve helped manage since 2006.
In September of 2014, I set off on a journey called The World Race, a journey that took me to 11 countries in 11 months all throughout Asia to serve the least of these through partnership with 11 different ministries. I taught english as a bridge to sharing Jesus in closed countries. I served women enslaved in sex trafficking, by taking part in seminars that taught them a trade, and offered them a way out. I fell in love with countless orphans, as I served in orphanages where God birthed in me a heart to be a Mother to the motherless, and a healer to the broken.
So, what’s next? The World Race furthered my passion to know Jesus, and to make Him known throughout the world. Because of this I’m excited to share that this August, I will be going on The World Race once more, but this time as a Squad Leader to a group of 56 young Missionaries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will be co-leading this World Race squad around the globe, working along side of them to serve in communities, churches and organizations that are making a difference in their own countries. My role is ultimately one that guides others in their spiritual formation, aiding the squad with skills through discipleship and mentorship as they pursue a richer relationship with the Lord, so we are all able to leave a lasting footprint in each country we serve in. As a Squad Leader, I will travel with the squad for the first 5 months of their world race and then return to the missions field month 7 and 11 in order to further nurture, love on, and encourage them.
So, where am I going? On this journey, I will be serving in 7 countries altogether, and although I will not be assigned a route until training camp, I do have a strong desire to serve in a number of countries in Africa, and believe that the continent will be on my itinerary along with a possible return to Asia! But we will see…more to come on that! (I will be heading to Africa: Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, and back to Asia: Cambodia, and Vietnam. The last 2 countries I will visit for debriefs will be decided later.)
But to me the ‘why I go’ is more important than the ‘where I go’. I’m excited to get back in the missions field, because Squad Leading was something I’ve been interested in for a while. During my own World Race I felt encouraged to step forward after the Lord once again in this because The World Race is so transformative. I witnessed people on my world race squad, experience true transformation, and find a passion for God that they had never experienced before, and I want to continue to be a part of encouraging that sort of transformation in others while serving the needs (both spiritually and physically) of ‘the least of these’ in the world.
What do I need in order to go?
I will need a dedicated prayer team, as well as to fundraise an additional $7000 to cover my expenses for this journey. I am looking for people to partner with me in the form of $25 $50, $100 a month for 6 or 12 months (click the “Donate” link on the left of this page to set up your gift).
