I have been without internet the last 2 months so it has been somewhat challenging to keep ya’ll abreast of my life and all the beauty that God has been unfolding all around me, but here is an update on my days in Malaysia!

As previously mentioned, I was on (what I thought was) a temporary team called The Golden Girls, which were all the gals over 30.  We taught English for the month to 6-12 year old, as well as 2 men in the evenings.  We had a ball teaching English, and broke up into teams of 2 to alternate who taught when.

Additionally, we were able to go and serve at a camp in a small village in the jungle which was so cool.  We played a lot of christian games during our time with those sweet little ones in the jungle.  One of my teammates read a story about how very special each one of them are, and we simply got to wrap our arms around them and love on them in Jesus name.  It was a special time, and ministry in the jungle is for sure one of my favorite times on the race.

Right before we arrived in this small town in Malaysia, there was also a big storm that lead to a flood in the community forcing many people out of their homes.  We were able to visit many of these people and deliver disaster relief packages to them.  Some visits were really quick others were long and left us laughing, loving, and praying for the families we encountered.  It was a beautiful time that we experienced, entering peoples homes (that they’ve since returned to) as they opened their homes and hearts to us.

Malaysia is a closed country, where we aren’t allowed to proselytize to the Malay people, only the foreigners that live there like the Chinese, or Indian people living there.  But we looked for opportunities to share our faith wherever we were.  One way we tried to encourage relationship was through our cookie day ministry, where we baked cookies and walked the neighborhood knocking on doors and introducing ourselves.    We met some of our neighbors this way, and were able to shine Light on them and love them in Jesus name. We also loved on the local store owners, restaurant staff in this way, and we were definitely well known in the small town where we were for the month.

March was a month full of outreach, unique ministry, and fun!

The Golden Girls made it a priority to laugh, and have fun, and that we definitely did!  We also made some wonderful Malay friends and laughed a lot with them.  It was a good month, one of my favorite months on the race (I’ve got a top 3 list!!), and I’m grateful for all God did during my time in Malaysia…the things seen, and also unseen.

I know He is at work everywhere we go, and I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to go where He is and prayerfully represent Him well!
