I’m in Thailand! Month 3 has begun and I am on the Thailand/Burma border working with an organization that gives tools to at risk children and adults, most of which are Burmese refugees.
Our first week involved working in a coffee shop/consignment shop where the proceeds go to fund the orphanage up on the hill. We sorted through donations and gave the shop a makeover that literally made regular customers do a double take as they came through the shop!
We also taught an English class to the village children. We sang songs, played games, and had an amazing time!
Yesterday, we took part in a special rice harvest thanksgiving service at the village church. It was amazing to worship with these beautiful people! The children danced, sang, and even put on our bible skit from the day before! I’m in love with all the children ya’ll! I was so surprised when our host told me the ages of the children! They look so you g, but are much older then the look mostly because of malnutrition. I thought for sure this one boy was 16 months…and he is actually FOUR YEARS OLD!!!! But she also said that the younger siblings are growing up stronger and bigger then their older siblings and that shows the positive effect this ministry is having on the community. It was also beautiful to see the worship of these people who have so little. Their worship service went on at least 3 hours, and their passion for The Lord was beautiful and brought joy to my soul!
