Hello, friends and family!
I can’t believe it is finally here! After committing to the World Race six months ago, I embark on the first phase of my journey tomorrow: Training Camp! I will be in Gainesville, Georgia (just outside Atlanta) for ten days (June 8-18) being trained on everything that is the World Race. After communicating through Google Chats, GroupMe apps, messaging, and Facetime for six months, I am finally meeting the 32 squadmates with whom I will be spending the next year of my life!
Training Camp is a spiritually and emotionally intense time, and this is considered our “test run” for the actual World Race. We will learn about the cultures we will be serving, we will be put in challenge scenarios, we will be competing in “Squad Wars” against the other three squads launching in August (they are going on different World Race routes), and we will be living out of our tents during camp to see what our lives are actually going to be like. This is a time for my squad and team to bond, and it is crucial to us being able to serve others and receive everything we are meant to from this kingdom journey.
So that being said, I wanted to let you know that I will be at Training Camp so that I could ask you to sincerely pray for my squadmates and me for the next ten days. Some prayer requests are:
-That we be fully open to hearing what the Lord has to tell each of us in this time, even if it is difficult. Pray for processing and true surrender to the Holy Spirit.
-That we would all be fully vulnerable about our strengths and weaknesses as we bond with each other in the body of Christ.
-While we already know our squad (around 30 people), we do not know individual teams yet. The squad meets up between each country and at debriefs, but your team is who you live with 24/7 (about 6-8 people). Please pray for the Adventures in Missions staff and leadership as they use discernment to choose our teams.
-Pray that bondage is broken, that healing occurs to bring restoration, that prophetic words are given to those in need of it, and that God resurrects dreams and visions for the future generation.
-Pray for the worship staff and all those working to serve and make this event possible for all these future World Racers. They are going to be tired and need to be being poured into while they pour so much into us over Training Camp.
-Pray that God would do whatever is necessary to break us of the things He wants to that will impede our relationships on the World Race and our ability to serve others.
-Pray that God would prepare all of our hearts for what He has to do in and through us in South America.
I cherish your support and prayers more than you could possibly know, and I wanted to present these requests to you because I am aware of how much I need people and because I truly want you to be a part of every step of this journey with me. I will post a blog when I get back from Training Camp to let you know all that God did. Until then, thank you for your prayers and I will catch you on the flipside!
With expectation of God’s goodness overflowing in our lives,
Tera
