Hello, everyone!

I am in a hotel in Miami, Florida, getting ready to leave for the airport to fly to the country of Guyana (finally)!

The past few hours in the States has been kind of amazing and kind of horrible.  With how hard my first month has been, it was so hard to be so close to the comforts of home and not want to throw in the towel. On the positive side, I got to go to Walmart and the post office to mail my painting back home. In addition, the hot shower, flushing toilet paper, drinking the tap water, speaking English, air conditioning, and continental breakfast at the hotel were simply indescribable.

But now it is off to Guyana!  If you read my previous post, you know I have hand mouth foot disease.  I am convinced the enemy has really liked attacking my body this month, because I’m a pretty darn healthy person.  Also, I’m the only one on my squad that got this “highly contagious” disease….seems suspicious to me. Anyway, I would like you to know that I got through customs, I’m surviving the plague, and I will consider the attacks a compliment that God has something incredible to do through me on this trip otherwise satan wouldn’t be trying to thwart it so much! Thank you for your prayers!!

Yes, that was my foot yesterday morning.

If you follow me on social media or on YouTube, some of this may be a repeat for you, but I know some people just follow this blog, so I wanted to make sure I posted some photos and videos from Medellín.  Since our flights to Guyana got unexpectedly delayed six days, a group of us decided to go to Medellín for two days. It was a great trip and we did it all (flights, hostel, activities) for under $100. That’s what I call a missionary adventure trip!  We want to be wise about balancing adventure with ministry, since we are here first and foremost to do ministry.  But when you get the chance to have an adventure…why not, right?!

We climbed El Peñon in Guatapé. It is over 700 stairs built into a huge black rock.  This was one of the most beautiful places I have seen in all my travels.  Check the videos below to see more of what we did in Medellín!

Comuna 13 in Medellín.

Some of Medellín from a stop on the Metro Cable.

This was one of my final pictures from Cartagena. The pegasus family was my favorite spot in the city, so it seemed only fitting to post a setting sun with them as my last picture from the city that has been my home for four weeks.

One more cool story is that I ran into Omar (I mentioned him in the first video in Cartagena), the security guard in the airport, coming back from Medellín! He had tried to go to church and didn’t see us there. I am talking to him about God and trying to get him plugged into a family of faith in Cartagena.  Please pray God continues to do mighty things in his heart, and thank you so much if you prayed for him! God answers prayers, and if we were not delayed six days I never would have seen him again!  So. Cool.

That’s it for now!

So long, beautiful America.  See you in ten months!

See you all in Guyana!
